Danapur-Bihta road takes Bihar to new heights!

The commencement of construction for the 23.5-km-long Danapur-Bihta elevated four-lane road in Bihar is anticipated within the next month. Currently, soil testing activities are underway, spearheaded by the experts from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Approximately 69 acres of land are earmarked for the construction of the Danapur-Bihta elevated road, with the Railways expected to transfer its land to the state government. The overall project cost, encompassing land acquisition, utility shifting, and environmental management works, is estimated at around Rs 3,131 crore.

The elevated road will boast a width of 28 meters and feature an eight-lane toll plaza. This infrastructure initiative aims to enhance connectivity between Patna, the proposed Bihta international airport, and onward to Buxar via Bihta and Koilwar. Bypasses will be established at Neoraganj, Painal, Kanhauli, and Bishanpura along the existing road between Shivala and Bihta. Additionally, a link road has been incorporated to facilitate access from the proposed elevated road to Bihta airport.

Two agencies have been selected to spearhead the elevated road project, with an estimated completion timeline of approximately two years. Ramps will be strategically constructed at four locations between Danapur and Bihta. Notably, vehicles originating from Saguna Mor will have access to the elevated road near Danapur railway station, while the elevated road route will be accessible near Bihta airport, at the Shivala turn, and along the Bihta-Sarmera highway.

Furthermore, a 600-meter tunnel is slated for construction at Kanhauli, designed to facilitate the seamless movement of traffic from Patna towards the proposed Bihta airport.
