Gadkari’s ₹1.10 Lakh Crore Expressway: 2 Years to Completion

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has confirmed that the flagship Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project is nearing its final phases, with 75–80% of the ₹1.10 lakh crore corridor completed. Speaking at an inspection event in Mandana, Kota, Gadkari guaranteed full completion within two years, reducing the vehicular transit time between Delhi and Mumbai's key ports to roughly 12 hours.

The transit update was paired with a wave of newly sanctioned regional projects. The Ministry has approved the ₹551 crore Mukundara Bypass and a ₹1,000 crore greenfield spur link for Kota, both slated to break ground within three months. Additionally, planning has commenced for the ₹15,000 crore Atal Express Highway along the Chambal River and a new link for Bhawani Mandi. Highlighting the broader socio-economic impact, Gadkari noted that the infrastructure push would catalyze industrial and educational investments in surrounding tribal belts, while advancing green construction practices through the deployment of municipal waste and eco-friendly bio-bitumen.
