Gujarat's ₹12.42 Billion Road Revamp to Boost Connectivity

The Government of Gujarat has approved a substantial ₹12.42 billion package to upgrade and resurface roads across the state, aimed at improving connectivity for residents, businesses, and industries alike.

Endorsed by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, this initiative focuses on strengthening both urban and rural infrastructure, particularly in regions facing critical transportation challenges. Of the total outlay, ₹9.75 billion has been allocated for resurfacing 118 roads covering a total of 735 kilometers across various districts. Led by the Roads and Buildings Department, the project will improve access between remote villages, taluka centers, and key highways, thereby cutting down travel time and boosting connectivity.

An additional ₹2.67 billion is earmarked for targeted development in two strategic regions: Kadi taluka in Mehsana district and the Deshlpar–Hajipir corridor in Kutch. In Kadi, ₹1.71 billion will go toward four key road projects, including ₹270 million for converting roads such as Dangarwa–Karjisan and Kadi–Jaslpur–Mokasan–Suraj into durable concrete surfaces capable of withstanding high traffic volumes.

Moreover, ₹1.44 billion will be used to widen major routes like Bhalti–Dharampur–Khawad and Kadi–Nani Kadi–Bavdu–Chandrasan–Khodano Dhal to widths of 7 to 10 meters, enhancing traffic capacity and safety. In Kutch, ₹950 million will be invested in upgrading the 32-kilometer Deshlpar–Hajipir State Highway into a concrete road. This stretch is crucial due to its heavy usage and its role as a key route to the Hajipir pilgrimage site and North Gujarat.
