Jewar Airport Gets a Direct Link with New 30-km Expressway

In a major boost to road infrastructure in the Delhi-NCR region, the Central Government has approved a 30-km expressway connecting Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and the upcoming Jewar International Airport.

Running parallel to the existing Noida–Greater Noida Expressway along the Yamuna River, the new corridor will link Pushta Road with both the Yamuna Expressway and the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway. Originally proposed by MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma and backed by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the project received in-principle approval from the Noida Authority in March 2025. Execution is expected to be taken up by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), with only formal clearance pending.

Designed to decongest the existing 25-km stretch, which currently handles over 5 lakh vehicles daily, the new expressway will serve as a strategic bypass, providing direct connectivity to Jewar Airport and improving traffic flow across the region.

Initially planned under UPEIDA with cost-sharing, the Centre’s involvement has shifted funding and oversight to NHAI, ensuring higher construction standards and improved long-term infrastructure viability.
