The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a major infrastructure project — an 88-kilometre, six-lane greenfield expressway connecting Agra and Gwalior, with an estimated investment of ₹4,613 crore.
Designed as an access-controlled, high-speed corridor, the expressway will start from Deori village in Agra and end at Susera village in Gwalior, passing through the states of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. The project aims to significantly boost connectivity between these prominent tourism and economic hubs, ease congestion in nearby urban areas, and streamline inter-state travel.
Implemented under the Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) model, the project includes a 20-year concession period, with 30 months allocated for construction. To support execution, NHAI will provide ₹820 crore in phased construction assistance to the Concessionaire, tied to project milestones.
Beyond improving transport efficiency, the expressway is expected to drive regional development by enhancing logistics, reducing travel time, and supporting local economic growth.
