Road Transport Ministry invites bids to prepare DPR for Mani-Sampaje stretch

The Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry has issued an invitation for eligible consultants to submit proposals for the preparation of a detailed project report, survey, and land plan for the expansion of the Mani-Mysuru-Bengaluru NH 75. The objective is to widen the road to four lanes between Mani and Sampaje in the Dakshina Kannada district.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) took action in response to a request made by Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to expand the highway. The expansion proposal is being implemented concurrently with the conversion of two additional highways, namely Manglauru-Bengaluru NHA 75 and Mangaluru-Solapur NH 169, into four-lane roadways.

The individual expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr. Gadkari for their kind gesture, acknowledging that the three projects would greatly expedite the development of the district.

NH 275 has recently undergone a widening project, resulting in the addition of two lanes and paved shoulders. This significant infrastructure development was carried out by the Karnataka Public Works Department's NH wing. The highway traverses a topographically diverse region characterized by numerous sharp curves and areas prone to traffic congestion. According to a senior engineer from the Public Works Department (PWD), the proposed solution to eliminate the curves and provide a smooth driving experience would involve expanding the highway to four lanes, designed to accommodate a speed of 100 kmph.

The National Highways Authority of India is currently overseeing the implementation of a 93 km access controlled four-lane expressway project, which aims to connect Srirangapatna and Kushalnagar to the existing Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway. The Kushalnagar-Mani section of National Highway 275 was included as a component of the four-lane development initiative.

In the notice inviting tender, Narendra Sharma, the Regional Officer in Bengaluru for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), has informed that the letter of invitation, terms of reference, and the request for proposal for the widening of NH 275 from Km 0.00 (Mani) to 71.60 (Sampaje) can be accessed online. These documents are available on the e-tender portal, which can be found at https://eprocure.gov.in. The Request for Proposal (RFP) has also been uploaded on the official website of INFRACON, which can be accessed at www.infracon.nic.in.

All bids must be submitted online by 3 p.m. on December 13th. According to the officer, a pre-bid meeting is scheduled for November 23 at 4 p.m., and the bids will be opened on December 14 at 4 p.m. It is highly probable that the New Hampshire wing of the State Public Works Department will undertake the project.
