GAIL (India) has signed contract agreements with TUSCO to develop a 600 MW solar power project at TUSCO’s solar park in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant step in expanding its renewable energy portfolio.
The project will include a 550 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to ensure a stable and reliable power supply. The solar facility is primarily intended to meet the captive energy requirements of GAIL’s petrochemical plant at Pata in Auraiya district, while also supporting additional demand from the electrification of gas-based operations and upcoming compressed biogas (CBG) plants across Uttar Pradesh.
The agreements were signed by GAIL Executive Director (Sustainable Development and Renewables) Parivesh Chugh and TUSCO CEO Anil Tyagi, in the presence of senior officials.
GAIL Director (Business Development) R. K. Singhal stated that the project reflects the company’s commitment to diversifying into low-carbon and sustainable energy solutions and strengthening its presence in Uttar Pradesh.
