MSRDC's Fresh Bid for Solar Project on Samruddhi Highway

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has reissued a tender for a significant solar project along the Samruddhi Mahamarg. This tender involves the development of a 5 MW ground-mounted solar power plant at Bhilkheda in Washim district. The project is designed to harness solar energy to power the region and contribute to the state's green initiatives.

This solar project is part of a broader plan to install solar panels at seven interchanges along the Samruddhi Mahamarg corridor, aiming to generate a total of 161 MW of electricity daily. This initiative is expected to augment the revenue stream for the expressway while transforming it into a green corridor. The project's comprehensive scope includes designing, engineering, supplying, constructing, installing, testing, and maintaining the solar power plant​ .

The tender process stipulates several requirements for bidders, including a demonstrated ability to develop and commission grid-connected solar power projects with a minimum capacity of 3 MW. Additionally, bidders must have experience in executing electrical sub-stations and meet financial criteria, ensuring only qualified and capable firms participate​.

Once operational, the solar project will significantly reduce carbon emissions and provide a reliable power source to the surrounding areas, potentially lighting up thousands of homes. The estimated cost of the project is around ₹700 crores, with a projected payback period of ten years. This venture underscores MSRDC's commitment to sustainable infrastructure development and renewable energy adoption.
