The first solar park under the MukhyaMantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana 2.0 (MSKVY 2.0) has begun generating daytime power for farmers in Maharashtra. Located in Dhondalgaon village, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar district, this 3 MW capacity solar park marks a significant milestone in the state's renewable energy initiative.
Led by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL), the solar park is part of a broader plan to develop 9,200 MW of solar energy under MSKVY 2.0. The scheme aims to solarize 30% of agricultural feeders by 2025, with total capacity expected to be achieved by December 2025.
The Dhondalgaon solar project, built on 13 acres of public land, will provide daytime power to 1,753 agriculture pumps connected to five electric feeders. This initiative is designed to enhance the reliability and availability of power for farming activities, supporting the local agricultural economy.
The project received its letter of award on March 7, 2024, followed by a power purchase agreement (PPA). Now operational, it benefits farmers in Dhondalgaon, Nalegaon, Amanatpurwadi, and Sanjapurwadi, offering a sustainable energy solution for their agricultural needs.
This solar park is a significant step towards Maharashtra's goal of increasing renewable energy usage and reducing reliance on traditional power sources, particularly in the agricultural sector.
