Solar Scaled: Premier’s ₹11,000 Cr Expansion Begins

Premier Energies has commissioned a 400 MW solar cell manufacturing facility in Telangana, marking a major milestone in its ₹11,000 crore expansion plan.

The Hyderabad-based clean energy company said the facility, located at E City in Maheeshwaram, was commissioned on January 22, 2026. With this addition, Premier Energies’ solar cell manufacturing capacity has increased from 3.2 GW to 3.6 GW, according to Chief Business Officer Vinay Rustagi. The company plans to more than double its annual solar cell and module capacities to 10.6 GW and 11.1 GW, respectively, by 2028 to cater to growing domestic demand. It currently operates 5.1 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity across its Hyderabad facilities.

The expansion is being financed through a mix of ₹1,300 crore raised via last year’s initial public offering, a ₹2,200 crore debt facility from the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency, and internal accruals. Premier Energies also plans to venture into ingot and wafer manufacturing, moving towards becoming a fully integrated renewable energy player in India.
