Suzlon, a leading renewable energy solutions provider, has achieved a significant milestone by securing a massive 1,166 MW wind energy order from NTPC Green Energy. This order, the largest in India's wind energy sector, encompasses the supply of wind turbines and the execution of the project, including erection and commissioning, at various sites in Gujarat.
The project will involve the installation of 370 wind turbine generators (WTGs) of the S144 model, each equipped with a hybrid lattice tubular (HLT) tower and a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. These turbines will be installed across two projects for NTPC Renewable Energy and one project for IndianOil NTPC Green Energy, a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL). Post-commissioning, Suzlon will also provide operations and maintenance services, ensuring the long-term efficiency and reliability of the installations.
This landmark order significantly boosts Suzlon’s cumulative order book, which now stands at approximately five GW as of September 3, 2024. The scale and scope of this project not only underscore Suzlon’s leadership in the renewable energy sector but also highlight the company’s capability to deliver large-scale wind energy solutions.
Upon completion, the project will set a new benchmark in India’s renewable energy landscape, contributing substantially to the country’s energy self-sufficiency goals. This initiative aligns with NGEL’s ambitious target of adding 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, marking a critical step towards achieving sustainable energy solutions.
Suzlon’s successful bid for this project reaffirms its role as a pivotal player in India’s journey towards a greener future. By spearheading such large-scale renewable projects, Suzlon continues to play an essential role in driving the nation’s transition to clean energy.
