The Solar Expansion: Vikram's 11 GW Vision.

Vikram Solar, a leading solar module manufacturer based in Kolkata, is set to commission 11 GW of new module manufacturing capacity in Tamil Nadu by the end of this financial year, taking its total installed capacity to 15.5 GW.

The company is currently building a 5 GW facility in Vallam, expected to be completed by November, and a 6 GW facility in Gangaikondan, scheduled for commissioning by the end of Q4 FY26. The Vallam plant—featuring four production lines of 1.25 GW each—marks Vikram Solar’s largest capacity expansion to date.

In parallel, the company is developing a 12 GW solar cell manufacturing plant at Gangaikondan, with phase one targeted for completion by FY27. These projects are part of Vikram Solar’s broader strategy to strengthen its position in India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy sector.

So far, the company has invested ₹200 crore out of its ₹1,000 crore capex plan for FY26, underlining its commitment to scaling up domestic solar manufacturing in alignment with national clean energy goals.
