Odisha TEX 2025: Weaving a Sustainable Future for Textiles

The inaugural edition of Odisha TEX 2025, held on July 25, spotlighted the state’s rising profile in India’s textile and apparel industry and its ambition to become a global hub for sustainable manufacturing, innovation, and employment.

The event saw the signing of 33 MoUs, unlocking ₹7,808 crore in investments and paving the way for over 53,300 job opportunities. More than 160 companies participated—including major names like Page Industries, KPR Mills, Sportking, First Step Baby Wear, and Bon & Co.—spanning the entire textile value chain, from yarn manufacturing to technical textiles.

Among key highlights:

Announcement of six integrated textile and footwear parks with plug-and-play infrastructure and modern worker hostels.

Several skill development MoUs, with a strong focus on women’s empowerment through training in automated garmenting and textile tech.

Enhanced employment subsidies under the Odisha Technical Textile & Apparel Policy 2022: ₹6,000/month for male workers and ₹7,000/month for female workers.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that Odisha TEX will now be an annual fixture, reinforcing both the state’s rich handloom legacy and its pivot to modern textile innovation. A dedicated task force will oversee the implementation of industry initiatives, aiming to create over 1 lakh jobs by 2030 across emerging textile clusters.
