The AIADMK-Industry Promise: A New Era for TN Textiles

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said that Tamil Nadu, if governed by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) after the Assembly elections, will establish a large industrial estate around Tiruppur to strengthen the textile sector, generate lakhs of jobs, and boost state revenues.

Speaking to the media in the textile hub, Goyal stated that the proposed expansion could transform Tiruppur into a global manufacturing centre. He added that he has been in regular touch with industry and business leaders in the region and sees strong potential for significant investments.

Highlighting India’s trade initiatives, Goyal said the Centre has concluded nine free trade agreements covering 38 developed economies, representing nearly two-thirds of global trade. He noted that inputs from Tiruppur’s textile industry were actively considered during negotiations and that the sector remains optimistic about improved access to international markets.
