Telangana Powers Up: NTPC Unit-2 Hits Full Load!

Unit-2 of the NTPC Telangana Super Thermal Power Project (TSTPP) achieved a significant milestone by successfully reaching its full load capacity of 800 MW on February 3, 2024. The current focus is on stabilizing operations and progressing towards the trial operation phase for the unit.

The TSTPP, initiated with a total power generation capacity of 1,600 MW (2x800 MW each) in its first phase, is part of a larger plan with a total projected capacity of 4,000 MW, situated near Ramagundam village in Karimnagar district. Utilizing state-of-the-art ultra supercritical technology, this project stands as a pivotal achievement in the state's journey towards achieving self-reliance in electricity generation.

Established in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act 2014, the Unit-2 thermal power project builds on the success of the 800 MW first unit, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 3, 2023. This latest accomplishment underscores the project's commitment to contributing significantly to the region's power infrastructure.
