An additional ₹500 crore has been earmarked for crucial maintenance and upgrades at thermal power stations in Mettur, Thoothukudi, and North Chennai, managed by Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited (TNPGCL).

The Valuthur Gas Power Station – I will also undergo a ₹111 crore upgrade, featuring a hot gas path inspection of its 95 MW turbine and enhancements to its Dry Low Nitrogen Oxide (DLN) system to boost efficiency and reduce emissions.
