South Central Railway (SCR) has received approval to increase train speeds to 130 km/h on key routes, including the Golden Quadrilateral, Golden Diagonal, and other high-density corridors.
To enhance safety and prevent trespassing by pedestrians, cattle, and vehicles, SCR has launched a ₹3,200-crore project to install fencing and boundary walls along these critical sections. The initiative will cover 4,429 km in total, comprising 4,019 km of fencing and 410 km of boundary walls. Additionally, subways are being constructed to provide safe passage for pedestrians and vehicles.
So far, 875 km of fencing has been completed, with ongoing work across multiple divisions such as Secunderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Hyderabad, and Nanded. This effort aims to secure the railway tracks and support faster, safer train operations across SCR’s major routes.
