A Billion Tonnes of Pride: India's Coal Achievement

India has achieved a significant milestone by producing over one billion tonnes of coal in the 2023-24 financial year, reinforcing its commitment to energy security and self-sufficiency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the achievement, calling it "A Proud Moment for India!" Coal continues to be the backbone of the nation’s energy sector, playing a vital role in power generation and industrial applications.

The total coal production for the financial year reached 997.83 million tonnes, highlighting India's growing energy needs and its push to boost domestic coal output.
