A New Icon Rises: Mumbai Port to Build 470 Cr Yacht Hub

The Mumbai Port Authority has unveiled plans to develop a state-of-the-art yacht marina at Cross Island, near Princess and Victoria Docks, with a total investment of Rs 470 crore.

The project will be executed on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis and funded through internal resources. It will include offshore infrastructure such as breakwaters, dredging, and parking facilities. Operations and management of the marina will be entrusted to a private operator under a 45-year concession, during which the concessionaire will invest Rs 417.37 crore to develop onshore facilities across 4.2 hectares. These facilities will include a repair yard, clubhouse, hotel, and restaurant.

The marina is planned in three phases. Phase I will provide berthing for 424 yachts, Phase II will add 172 additional berths, and Phase III will include dedicated facilities for eight super yachts.

Describing the initiative as the Mumbai Port’s “signature project,” Chairman M. Angamuthu highlighted its potential to strengthen the city’s maritime ecosystem and enhance Mumbai’s iconic skyline.
