A Renewable Win: 624 MW Kiru Project Hits Key Milestone in J&K

Chenab Valley Power Projects (CVPPL) has announced a significant construction milestone at the 624 MW Kiru Hydroelectric Project in Jammu & Kashmir, successfully completing 12.00 lakh cubic metres of dam concreting out of the planned 12.20 lakh cubic metres.

Executed by Patel Engineering with strategic support from CVPPL and NHPC, this achievement keeps the project firmly on track for dam completion by August 2026 and full commissioning by March 2027 (FY 2026–27). NHPC Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta and Director (Projects) Sanjay Kumar Singh commended the project team and contractor for their progress, emphasizing the drive to complete all remaining activities on schedule. Positioned on the Chenab basin, Kiru remains a crucial asset in NHPC’s hydropower expansion and India's shift toward greater renewable energy capacity.
