A Stroke of Genius: Asian Paints' New ₹2,000 Crore Expansion

Asian Paints, India’s largest paint manufacturer, has announced plans to establish a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, with a proposed investment of ₹1,500–2,000 crore.

The upcoming plant will focus on water-based paints and have an annual production capacity of 4 lakh kilolitres (kl). Once operational, this will increase the company’s total installed capacity to 26 lakh kl. Managing Director and CEO Amit Syngle confirmed that land acquisition is complete and regulatory approvals are currently underway.

The company already operates manufacturing facilities in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The new investment aligns with rising demand, driven by government infrastructure initiatives and a rebound in the automotive sector.

With a vast distribution network of over 1.65 lakh dealers and 4,000–5,000 new dealers added annually, Asian Paints is well-positioned to tap into continued market growth. “We anticipate further consolidation in the paint industry, along with the entry of new foreign players in the near future,” Syngle stated.
