Adani Cement has partnered with Finland-based Coolbrook to install the world’s first commercial RotoDynamic Heater (RDH) at its Boyareddypalli Integrated Cement Plant in Andhra Pradesh.
The breakthrough technology aims to decarbonise the energy-intensive calcination stage of cement production—one of the most critical steps toward reducing fossil fuel dependence. By delivering clean heat to dry materials and enhance alternative fuel use, the RDH system will directly cut around 60,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, with the potential to scale up tenfold.
Powered entirely by Adani Cement’s renewable energy portfolio, the system will provide emission-free industrial heat. This milestone supports the company’s Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-validated goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and aligns with Coolbrook’s mission to eliminate 2.4 billion tonnes of CO₂ emissions from global heavy industries.
The deployment is also expected to boost process efficiency, raise alternative fuel usage to 30%, and increase the share of green power to 60% by FY28—marking a significant advance in high-temperature electrification for the cement industry.
