Adani Power Charges Ahead: A ₹2 Lakh Crore Leap to 42 GW

Adani Power has revised its long-term expansion target, aiming to achieve an installed generation capacity of 41.87 GW by FY32, supported by a capital expenditure outlay of approximately ₹2 lakh crore.

This represents a substantial increase from the company’s earlier target of 30.67 GW by FY30. At present, Adani Power operates 18.15 GW of generation capacity, with an additional 23.72 GW already secured, including land acquisition and key equipment orders.

The accelerated expansion plan is aligned with India’s projected surge in electricity demand, driven by rapid industrialisation and urban growth. Adani Power continues to prioritise thermal power generation, recognising its critical role in providing reliable baseload capacity and grid-balancing support alongside the country’s growing renewable energy footprint.

An Adani Power official noted that the expansion strategy is focused on meeting the nation’s rising energy requirements, strengthening energy security, and supporting long-term, sustainable economic growth.
