Adani Secures Rs 12,000 Cr HVDC Mega-Project!

Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has secured its second interstate transmission system (ISTS) project involving high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route.

The project, titled “Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from the Potential Renewable Energy Zone in Khavda, Gujarat under Phase-V (8 GW): Part C,” is estimated to entail an investment of around Rs 12,000 crore. AESL formally acquired the project’s special purpose vehicle (SPV), KPS III HVDC Transmission, from PFC Consulting on December 12, 2025. This marks AESL’s second ISTS acquisition, following its takeover of the Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission project in January 2025.

KPS III is also the third HVDC-based ISTS project awarded under the TBCB framework, with the first such project having been secured by Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) in November 2024. The project involves the development of two ±500 kV HVDC terminals in Gujarat, connected by a 600-km transmission link with a power transfer capacity of 2,500 MW. According to sources, AESL emerged as the lowest (L1) bidder for this strategically important project.
