Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. has secured the coveted position of L1 bidder for a significant tunnel project in Thane, awarded by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). The contract, valued at Rs 1,899.36 crore, was clinched under national competitive bidding on a least cost basis. The project entails the construction of a water conveyance tunnel spanning approximately 7.15 kilometers from Kasheli Bhiwandi to Mulund Octroi Naka.
Central to the project is the construction of a shaft plunging approximately 113 meters deep at Mulund Octroi Naka, alongside the creation of a 4.5-meter finished diameter RCC in-situ lined tunnel. This complex endeavor will utilize advanced full face rock tunnel boring machines, underscoring Afcons' expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects. The scope also encompasses allied works in a comprehensive design-build framework.
The financial bid opening on June 20, 2024, marked a pivotal moment in Afcons' pursuit of enhancing Mumbai's infrastructure landscape.
