Airbus Takes Flight with Indian Partners: TASL & MASPL to Supply Aircraft Parts

Airbus has formalized an agreement with Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) and Mahindra Aerostructures (MASPL) during the Wings India 2024 event in Hyderabad on January 18, 2024. This contract solidifies their partnership in supplying metallic components for Airbus' entire range of commercial aircraft models.

Under this collaboration, TASL and Mahindra will be responsible for manufacturing metallic detail parts, components, and assemblies for Airbus' A320neo, A330neo, and A350 programs. With both companies already part of a network of over 100 India-based suppliers supporting various Airbus programs, these new contracts signify an expanded level of cooperation.

In addition to component manufacturing, Airbus aims to broaden its industrial presence in India, encompassing aircraft assembly, engineering design and development, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) support, pilot and maintenance training, as well as academic collaboration to nurture human capital. The overarching strategy is to foster the growth of a comprehensive aerospace ecosystem within the country. Presently, Airbus procures components and services valued at approximately USD 750 million annually from India, and these latest contracts are poised to significantly augment this figure.

As part of its commitment to the Indian aerospace ecosystem, Airbus is in the process of establishing a Final Assembly Line for the C295 military aircraft in Vadodara through an industrial contract with TASL. Additionally, Airbus is actively engaged in training commercial pilots and maintenance crews in the region. Notably, various components and technologies used in Airbus' commercial aircraft, such as the A220 Escape Hatch Door and the Flap Track Beams for the A320neo and A330neo aircraft, are already manufactured in India.
