Gurugram-based Alcobrew Distilleries is expanding its premium product lineup to include single malt whiskey, gin, and vodka in the upcoming months. With a targeted revenue of ₹850 crore for the fiscal year 2024, Arvind Kaul, Deputy Managing Director of Alcobrew Distilleries, outlined the company's growth strategy.
Established in 2005, Alcobrew boasts a diverse portfolio featuring popular brands such as Golfer’s Shot Whisky, Old Smuggler Scotch, Alcobrew Single Oak Whisky, and White Hills Whisky. Looking to tap into the thriving single malt segment, Kaul disclosed, “We initiated malt spirits production last year in our plant, established 3-4 years ago. Now, we aim to enter the single malt whisky segment, recognizing it as a burgeoning market with increasing popularity.”
The company plans to position its single malt offering competitively, targeting a price point of around ₹5,000. Alcobrew also intends to prioritize the introduction of premium gin and vodka products to bolster its market presence.
Geographically, Alcobrew focuses primarily on northern India, holding a strong presence in states such as Haryana, UP, Delhi, Himachal, J&K, Leh, Ladakh, Punjab, and in Telangana and AP. In the eastern region, it has gained a foothold in Tripura. The Canteen Stores Department (CSD) market contributes significantly to the company's turnover, constituting 18% of its total turnover and enjoying nationwide reach.
Alcobrew operates a plant in Derabassi, Punjab, producing 400 cases per month. Additionally, it has a single malt plant in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, and leased bottling facilities in UP and Odisha serving local markets. An additional bottling facility is in the pipeline for Haryana to meet growing local demands.
In the fiscal year 2023, Alcobrew reported a net revenue of ₹722 crore, with a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15.76% over the last five years. Kaul mentioned, “We closed 2022 at ₹574 crore, 2021 at ₹492 crore, and at ₹523 crore in 2020. We are aiming for ₹850 crore in the current year, with new launches contributing to this figure. By 2025, we aspire to reach ₹1,000 crore in revenue.” The company remains optimistic about its trajectory, counting on strategic launches to propel future growth.
