Andhra Pradesh Tourism: Powering Growth Through Land Allotment

The Andhra Pradesh government has launched the Tourism Land Allotment Policy 2024-2029 to attract substantial investments and boost tourism infrastructure. This policy streamlines land allocation, enhances service efficiency, and promotes sustainable public-private partnerships (PPPs), according to a senior official quoted by BusinessLine.

Land allotments will vary from 1 acre to 150 acres, depending on project type. Wayside amenities, multiplexes, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) centers can receive 1 to 10 acres, while resorts, theme parks, golf courses, and mega tourism parks can be allotted 10 to 150 acres.

For innovative, high-impact projects, the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) has the authority to approve land allocations beyond these limits. The government may also amend policies to accommodate 3-star and above hotel chains, considering their tourism and employment potential.

The policy allows consortiums of up to three members for large, mega, and ultra-mega projects, while 5-star and mega tourism projects can operate under joint ventures with SIPB approval. MSME tourism projects can have consortiums with up to two members, following the Ministry of MSME, Government of India guidelines.

By simplifying land allocation and easing investment processes, Andhra Pradesh aims to unlock its tourism potential, generate local employment, and position itself as a premier tourism destination.
