Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has entered into an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop up to 7 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy projects, with an estimated investment of ₹49,000 crore.
This collaboration aims to explore opportunities for solar, wind, and hybrid energy projects, with or without storage solutions, aligning with Andhra Pradesh’s Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy. The policy targets over 160 GW of renewable energy development, attracting potential investments of ₹10 lakh crore.
Nara Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, and Human Resources Development, emphasized the state’s ambitious clean energy vision, stating, “Our landmark clean energy policy is expected to attract ₹10 lakh crore in investments and create 7.5 lakh jobs for the people of Andhra Pradesh.”
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) is set to boost the local economy, promote skill development, and enhance livelihoods, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh’s status as a renewable energy hub. Deepesh Nanda, CEO & Managing Director of TPREL, highlighted the importance of the partnership, saying, “By leveraging our expertise and advanced technology, this collaboration will drive large-scale renewable adoption and contribute to India’s sustainability goals.”
As part of the agreement, TPREL will undertake feasibility studies, preliminary assessments, and development activities to evaluate project viability. The New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) will assist in site identification, project facilitation, and evacuation infrastructure.
