Anna Salai’s New Skyline: A ₹621-Crore Transformation

M. K. Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, recently inspected the ongoing construction of a four-lane elevated corridor on Anna Salai between Teynampet and Saidapet in Chennai.

The 3.2-km-long elevated stretch, being built by the Tamil Nadu Highways Department at an estimated cost of ₹621 crore, aims to ease congestion along one of the city’s busiest arterial roads. During the inspection, officials briefed the Chief Minister on various stages of construction, including pillar installation and superstructure work.

Mr. Stalin was accompanied by E. V. Velu, Minister for Public Works, and Ma. Subramanian, Minister for Health and Family Welfare. He directed officials to accelerate construction to ensure timely completion and asked authorities to improve traffic management on stretches where pillar works have been completed to reduce congestion.

Later, in a post on X, the Chief Minister described the elevated corridor as a future landmark for Chennai, adding that it would be opened for public use as part of the government’s “Dravidian model 2.0.”
