Antunes Nadi Manufacturing India, a collaborative venture between Antunes, a U.S.-based leader in filtration systems and cooking equipment, and the Chennai-based NADI Group, is embarking on a significant expansion of its operations in India. The company is set to establish a new manufacturing unit in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, aimed at bolstering its production capabilities, introducing innovative products, and catering to global markets.
Specializing in the production of six distinct types of commercial cooking equipment for the Indian restaurant sector, as well as water filtration systems, the new facility in Chennai is not only designed for domestic market production but also strategically positioned for exports. The expansion plans encompass additional assembly of products, local sourcing—especially associated with filtration products—and the development of new products tailored for markets in India, the Middle East, and Africa.
Antunes Nadi Manufacturing India will procure sheet metal components, electro-mechanical parts, and other essential components from local suppliers in India. In an effort to foster innovation and product development, the company will actively seek local partnerships. The localization efforts for its equipment are projected to surge from the current 10-15 percent to an impressive 80 percent and beyond in the forthcoming years.
This Indian facility marks the second overseas unit for Antunes, following the establishment of its first overseas unit in China in 2003. The strategic expansion aligns with the burgeoning opportunities in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) market.
Commencing operations in 2019 at Madhavaram near Chennai, the JV expanded to a 9,000 sq. ft. unit. Now, with the establishment of a new 40,000 sq. ft. space at Hiranandani Industrial Park, Ponneri in Chennai, the company cites the local infrastructure, proximity to ports, and the dedicated workforce in the city as key factors favoring the Chennai location for its growth.
