AP Fast-Tracks Urban Future: ₹66,523 Cr. PPP Plan Takes Off

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department of Andhra Pradesh has unveiled a ₹66,523-crore public–private partnership (PPP) strategy to strengthen urban infrastructure across the state by 2029.

Excluding Amaravati, the plan focuses on smart water systems, modern transport networks, and sustainable housing. According to Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar, ₹2,000 crore has been allocated for Viability Gap Funding in the current budget. He noted that the government is prioritising the development of five smart cities with integrated IoT infrastructure, upgrading 2,500 km of roads, establishing 15 new urban transit systems, and implementing green building standards to achieve 40% higher energy efficiency in all new urban projects.

The state targets ₹35,000 crore in FDI for new economic zones and has proposed 33 PPP projects across sectors such as waste-to-energy, urban mobility, and renewable energy. “These projects will create strong economic momentum and position Andhra Pradesh as one of the country’s fastest-growing urban development hubs,” Kumar said.
