APTRANSCO’s $28,033 Crore Green Energy Push

APTRANSCO has submitted its final proposal for the ₹28,033 crore Green Energy Corridor Phase-III (GEC-III) project to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), according to Joint Managing Director and AP Power Coordination Committee Member-Convener Kirthi Chekuri.

The project is a major step toward integrating 11 GW of solar power and 7,373 MW of pumped storage capacity into the national grid. GEC-III will add 8,862 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 9,500 MVA of transmission capacity, aligning with India’s clean energy goals for 2030.

Speaking during Independence Day celebrations at Vidyut Soudha, Chekuri also reviewed the progress of 69 ongoing projects worth ₹8,638 crore, which are expected to contribute an additional 14,046 MVA and 2,041 circuit kilometres to the state’s power infrastructure.

Chekuri highlighted key operational achievements:

Transmission losses reduced from 2.69% to 2.60% in FY25

Non-tariff revenue rose sharply to ₹174.47 crore, largely from Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) leasing

APTRANSCO earned ISO 27001:2022 certification for information security

The in-house Joint Meter Reading app, projected to save ₹750 crore, won two national awards

These milestones underscore APTRANSCO’s commitment to infrastructure modernization, operational efficiency, and support for India’s energy transition.
