Ashok Leyland’s $5,000-Vehicle EV Powerhouse is Live!

Ashok Leyland Chairman Dheeraj Hinduja on Tuesday said the company aims to become one of the world’s top 10 commercial vehicle manufacturers, as its state-of-the-art plant was inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The company’s first electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh has an annual production capacity of 5,000 vehicles. Highlighting the importance of the new plant, Hinduja described it as a testament to the company’s vision and execution. “This is our first manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh and it stands as a symbol of what can be achieved when vision is matched by decisive action,” he said.

The facility has been designed to manufacture vehicles powered by electric, alternative fuel, and next-generation propulsion technologies. Ashok Leyland said the plant will also contribute to employment generation and industrial development in the region.

The completion of the facility within 14 months underscores the company’s focus on innovation and future-ready manufacturing.
