Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the state on December 20–21 to inaugurate and lay the foundation for several major development projects.
On December 20, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the new terminal building at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, constructed at a cost of ₹4,000 crore. He will also unveil an 80-foot statue of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi. The upgraded terminal features a modern design, while a newly developed elevated corridor on the airport road is expected to significantly improve connectivity to Jalukbari.
On December 21, the Prime Minister will visit the Brahmaputra river terminal in Guwahati and interact with 25–30 students as part of the ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme. Later in the day, he will travel to Dibrugarh to lay the foundation stone for the ₹10,000 crore Namrup-IV ammonia-urea project. The facility is expected to produce 12 lakh tonnes of urea annually, contributing to Assam’s industrial development and strengthening its export potential.
