Bangalore Metro Extends Reach with New Feasibility Study Contract

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has awarded a significant contract to M/s Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd. This contract involves preparing a feasibility study report for extending the metro line from Madavara (BIEC) to Tumakuru, covering approximately 52.41 km. This extension aims to enhance urban mobility and meet the growing transportation demands of the region, marking a crucial step in the city’s infrastructural development.

The tender, numbered BMRCL/Metro Corridor/Feasibility Study/2024/105, outlines the preparation of the feasibility study under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The contract, valued at Rs. 1,25,54,343, is to be executed within six months. This study will evaluate the potential for expanding the metro network, further integrating Tumakuru with Bangalore’s extensive metro system.

In recent developments, the Bangalore Metro has been making strides in infrastructure projects. In June, Titagarh Rail Systems Limited commenced train set production for Phase 2’s Yellow Line, and KEC International was awarded a contract for setting up the power supply system. These initiatives reflect the Bangalore Metro’s commitment to improving urban transit.

Phase-1 of the Bangalore Metro, already operational, spans 42.3 km with 40 stations, while Phase-2 includes extensions and new lines totaling 72.095 km, with 27.36 km currently operational. Additionally, Phase-2A and Phase-2B are under construction, aiming to further expand the metro's reach.

The recent contract award to Aarvee Associates highlights Bangalore Metro’s strategic approach to expanding its network systematically, ensuring modern and efficient transportation solutions for the city’s rapidly growing population.
