BEL Powers Coast Guard with Rs 1,220 Crore Deal.

The government has entered into a Rs 1,220.12 crore agreement with Bharat Electronics (BEL) for the procurement of 149 software-defined radios for the Indian Coast Guard.

This deal, falling under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category, aims to enhance secure communications, improve situational awareness, and foster better interoperability with the Indian Navy. The project will bolster maritime law enforcement, search and rescue operations, and fisheries protection, aligning with India's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Blue Economy' objectives. It also contributes to the growth of domestic manufacturing and employment.

In addition, the Ministry of Defence has recently signed a Rs 642 crore contract with BEL for 28 EON-51 electro-optical fire control systems for the Indian Navy.
