The Ministry of Railways has approved the final location survey for three new railway line projects in West Bengal, covering a combined length of 178 km.
The sanctioned projects include the 73-km Siuri–Nala line via Rajnagar and Bakreshwar Dham, the 27-km Arambagh–Khanakul line, and the 78-km Rasulpur–Jangalpara line. The proposed Siuri–Nala line is expected to significantly improve rail connectivity between Siuri and Nala, linking important locations such as Rajnagar and the pilgrimage centre of Bakreshwar Dham, while reducing reliance on road transport.
The Arambagh–Khanakul line, spanning 27 km, is aimed at addressing rising passenger demand in the region by improving accessibility and supporting regional development.
Meanwhile, the Rasulpur–Jangalpara line is designed to provide a bypass route that will eliminate the need for engine reversal, enhance operational efficiency, and ease congestion on existing longer routes. The line will also improve connectivity for passengers and light freight, helping decongest busy junctions.
These projects are part of broader efforts by the Railways to strengthen rail infrastructure and enhance regional mobility across West Bengal.
