The Centre has approved ₹94.08 crore for safety and infrastructure upgrades on National Highway-275, covering the Bantwal–Bengaluru stretch in Karnataka.
Announcing the sanction on January 13, Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar said the funding will address critical safety issues along the Sampaje–Kushalnagar section, which is particularly vulnerable to landslides during the monsoon. The works will focus on the 78 km to 125 km stretch of the highway.
Key interventions include the construction of 1,650 metres of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) retaining walls and 110 metres of pressure relief walls to stabilise slopes. Additional safety measures involve widening 1,690 metres of roadway across 17 locations, reconstruction of culverts, and the installation of crash barriers and traffic signage.
The project will be executed under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model, with a construction period of 18 months followed by a 10-year maintenance phase. Upon completion, the upgrades are expected to significantly improve road safety and ensure smoother, more reliable connectivity between Bengaluru and the coastal region, even during adverse weather conditions.
