K-RIDE (Rail Infrastructure Development Company Karnataka Ltd) has issued a significant tender for Corridor-1A of the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project. This new corridor aims to connect Bengaluru railway station to Yelahanka, with plans to extend further to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in its second phase.
The tender for Corridor-1A is valued at Rs 1,422 crore and encompasses the construction of both elevated and at-grade sections over 17.63 kilometers. It includes a 14.213 km elevated viaduct, a 3.417 km at-grade section, seven station buildings, and a Railway Over Bridge, showcasing the extensive scope of the project.
In a strategic shift, K-RIDE is awarding this contract to a single entity, moving away from its previous approach of dividing projects into smaller tenders. This change is based on insights gained from ongoing work in Corridor-2 and Corridor-4, aiming for more efficient project management and execution.
K-RIDE officials highlight that this tender is the highest value contract issued in the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project so far. It marks a crucial step in enhancing the city’s suburban rail infrastructure, promising improved connectivity and transit options for commuters.
With this tender, K-RIDE demonstrates its commitment to advancing Bengaluru's transportation network, facilitating better access and easing traffic congestion in the city.
