Collins Aerospace, a division of RTX, has invested $25 million in a state-of-the-art engineering development and test centre in Bengaluru—its largest facility outside the U.S. The new 50,000 sq. ft. lab is equipped with advanced testing technologies to ensure aerospace systems meet global safety and performance standards.
The facility conducts rigorous testing under extreme conditions, including high altitudes, severe temperatures, vibrations, and electromagnetic interference. By localizing these processes, Collins Aerospace aims to accelerate development, optimize product design, and reduce costs. The centre is also expected to expand its capabilities to support all RTX businesses, broadening its impact across aerospace and defense sectors.
“This investment goes beyond the $200 million we have committed over the last 4-5 years. The facility streamlines product development, testing, and certification of components locally,” said Savyasachi Srinivas, Vice President of Global Engineering & Technology Centres at Collins Aerospace.
In addition to this new facility, Collins Aerospace operates a 30,000 sq. ft. electronics lab for testing. The company currently employs 6,000 of RTX’s 7,000 workforce in India and plans to hire 1,500 more employees over the next three to five years. It is also collaborating with the Indian Air Force and contributing to India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft project.
