Premier Energies operates a 2 GW solar cell and 4.1 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Telangana, employing around 5,000 people.
Initially planning a 4 GW cell and module plant in Telangana with a ₹3,000 crore investment, the company recognized the need for geographical diversification and backward integration into ingot and wafer production, solar aluminum frame extrusion, and expanded cell and module capacity.
To adapt to evolving market demands, Premier Energies has strategically relocated some investments while continuing expansions in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. The Telangana government has played a key role in supporting the company’s growth, first allotting 75 acres in Seetharampur IP and later signing an MoU for an additional 125 acres to facilitate expansion.
In 2024, Premier Energies announced a 1 GW solar cell and 1 GW solar module expansion with an ₹800 crore investment, swiftly backed by the Telangana government. Construction is at an advanced stage, with commissioning set for Q1 FY26, creating 1,500 additional jobs. To fast-track the project, a pre-constructed facility in Maheshwaram IP was leased, allowing completion in a record nine months.
The company is also evaluating further investments in Telangana and has applied for an additional 25 acres for future expansion. However, to optimize logistics—particularly for imported raw materials—Premier Energies is relocating its 4 GW cell line to Andhra Pradesh for better port access. Additionally, the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has allocated 50 acres near Bhopal to support expansion and serve markets in MP, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
