Big Strides at 2,000-MW Subansiri Hydroelectric Project

Powering ahead! NHPC directors Suprakash Adhikari and Mahesh Kumar Sharma recently toured the vital 2,000-MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project spanning the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

Highlighting the visit was the kickoff of rotor assembly for Unit 7, a major milestone bringing the unit closer to full operation. Having already successfully launched commercial operations for four of its eight 250-MW units, NHPC is accelerating electro-mechanical work to commission the remaining generators. This steady progress brings the region one step closer to enhanced energy security and cleaner hydropower.
