Bihar Powers Up: 500 MWh BESS Project at Kajra Opens for Bids

Bihar State Power Generation Company has invited competitive bids for the establishment of a 500 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Kajra site in the Lakhisarai district. Structured under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) framework, the project will be executed on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis. The selected developer will assume full responsibility for the construction, commissioning, and operation of the facility. This initiative is a core component of Bihar's strategic expansion of modern power infrastructure and grid modernization, with bid submissions closing on September 23, 2026.
