M. K. Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, recently inaugurated several completed projects of the Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare Department in Pudukottai district through a video conference.
The initiatives include the establishment of a multi-purpose seaweed processing park, the upgradation of a fishing harbour, development of a fish landing centre, a modern fish retail outlet, and an integrated training centre. Infrastructure in three coastal fishing villages has also been strengthened to improve resilience against climatic challenges, supporting local fishermen and boosting livelihood opportunities.
Officials stated that these projects aim to modernize the fisheries sector, improve market access for fishermen, and provide skill development and climate-resilient infrastructure for coastal communities in the district.
