The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has unveiled plans for a new link road that will connect Masab Tank near Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital to National Highway 65 at Khairatabad. This proposed corridor is intended to streamline traffic movement from First Lancer Road to Chintal Basthi via Banjara Hills Road Number One, addressing chronic congestion in the area.
To kickstart the project, GHMC has appointed consultants to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The consultancy timeline includes submission of a feasibility report within 40 days, a draft DPR in the following 30 days, and the final DPR within an additional 20 days.
The scope of the study includes evaluation of current road conditions, proposed alignment, and key structural aspects such as existing utilities, trees, and nearby infrastructure. It will also cover design elements like pavement structure, stormwater drainage systems, signage, and lighting. A comprehensive traffic study will forecast future demand and suggest connectivity improvements in line with the approved Road Development Plan.
This initiative is part of GHMC’s long-term strategy to enhance Hyderabad’s road infrastructure and is expected to meet the city's transportation needs for the next 25 to 30 years.
