BluPine Secures 150 MW Solar-Storage PPA with SECI in Rajasthan

BluPine Energy has entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 150 MW solar power project integrated with an energy storage system (ESS) in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

This project forms part of SECI’s broader initiative to procure 2,000 MW of power from ISTS-connected solar projects, paired with 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh of storage capacity—supporting India’s goal of 500 GW non-fossil-based energy capacity by 2030.

Awarded to BluPine’s Special Purpose Vehicle, Solarcraft, through SECI’s July 2024 competitive bidding round, the project highlights the growing role of energy storage in ensuring grid stability and managing peak demand. From February 2025, storage integration will be mandatory under Ministry of Power directives, further emphasizing its importance in the country’s renewable energy roadmap.

SECI’s push to combine large-scale renewables with storage reflects the government’s commitment to building a cleaner, more reliable, and future-ready energy infrastructure.
