Brakes India, a key player in the braking systems market, is partnering with Japan’s ADVICS to establish a ₹500-crore greenfield factory in Shoolagiri near Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The new facility, pending land allotment from the State government, will focus on advanced braking products for India's light vehicle market, leveraging ADVICS' expertise in hybrid and electric vehicles.
The joint venture sees Brakes India holding a 51% stake, with ADVICS owning 49%. The plant will be situated in the SIPCOT park at Shoolagiri, part of a 300-acre Future Mobility and E-Vehicle Park planned by the State government. The facility will initially focus on electronic stability control (ESC) systems, incorporating electronic and software components.
ADVICS, renowned for its work with Japanese OEMs like Toyota, will bring significant know-how in developing braking systems for both internal combustion and hybrid EVs. As demand for hybrid electric vehicles and ESC systems grows, Brakes India aims to meet global standards and safety requirements.
Brakes India, a ₹7,500-crore company, is already a major supplier to EV manufacturers. The new plant will cater to the specific needs of EVs, such as reduced noise and advanced software features, further solidifying Brakes India's position in the automotive industry.
