Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced that the electronics component technology for India's Hyperloop project will be developed at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai.
During his visit to the IIT Madras Discovery Campus, the Minister toured Asia’s longest Hyperloop test facility—a 410-meter-long test tube—and witnessed a live demonstration. He emphasized that the entire Hyperloop testing system has been developed using indigenous technologies and commended the young innovators behind the project.
Encouraged by the successful test results, Vaishnaw expressed confidence that India will soon be ready for Hyperloop transportation. The Railway Ministry has provided both financial and technical support for the project, leveraging ICF Chennai’s expertise in high-speed train electronics, particularly with the Vande Bharat trains, to develop advanced electronics for Hyperloop technology.
Additionally, the Minister visited IIT Madras’ Guindy campus to attend the Center for Innovation’s Open House 2025 exhibition, where he interacted with students and innovators.
