Chevron Invests $1 Billion to Launch Innovation Hub in Bengaluru

Chevron, a leading global energy company, is set to invest $1 billion in establishing its first major engineering and innovation center in India. Named the Chevron Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center (ENGINE), the facility will be located near Bellandur, Bengaluru, and will serve as a key R&D hub for the company.

The Chevron ENGINE center is expected to create 600 specialized jobs by the end of 2025, with potential for further expansion. The center will focus on a range of engineering disciplines, including mechanical, chemical, and computer science, as well as geology and environmental science, to drive advancements in energy solutions.

Akshay Sahni, the incoming country head for Chevron India, hailed the establishment of ENGINE as a landmark development in the company’s 145-year history. The center will join Chevron’s other major technical centers in Houston and California, positioning itself as a significant player in developing low-carbon energy technologies and enhancing operational reliability.

Sahni emphasized the dual challenge facing the energy sector: meeting growing energy demands while transitioning to a lower-carbon future. The ENGINE center, he noted, will play a crucial role in addressing these challenges through innovative technology solutions.

This investment underscores Chevron’s commitment to strategic global partnerships and innovation, further expanding its presence in India’s growing energy sector
